Before the first pitch or at-bat, your body needs more than just physical activation – it needs spiritual alignment. A simple yet powerful routine of scripture and stretching prepares the whole person (mind, body, and spirit) with purpose, peace, and power for every practice or game.
Start with Scripture
Before the crocs come off and the cleats go on, take a moment to read a verse. It doesn’t have to be long – just intentional. God’s Word sets the tone for the day, offering peace, strength, and perspective. Try posting a verse near your mirror or writing one on your water bottle. Let Scripture be your first movement.
“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”
– Psalm 119:105
Stretch with Purpose
Stretching improves flexibility, reduces injury, and prepares your body to perform. But when paired with scripture, it also reminds you why you play – and who you play for. Let each movement be a reminder that your effort is an offering. Whether it’s hamstrings or heartstrings, warming up with intention helps you move with grace and strength.
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies.
– 1 Corinthians 6:19–20
Every Breath a Prayer
As you stretch, pair dynamic movements with one-breath prayers like “Lord, fill me with strength” or “Jesus, be my calm.” Small prayers build big faith. Prayer doesn’t have to be formal – it just needs to be faithful.
“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
– 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Final Thought
Daily warm-ups are more than physical repetitions – they’re sacred habits that prepare us to move with purpose and play with peace. When we begin with Scripture, stretch with intention, and breathe out simple prayers, we invite God into every moment – from warm-ups to walk-offs. So, let’s make every rep count!
