The Full Armor of God

As athletes, we don a uniform and equip ourselves to “battle” on the field.

In Ephesians 6:10-18, St. Paul teaches us a deeper symbolism of this layer of protection; and how we must be strong in the Lord, stand against the enemy’s schemes, and PRAY ALWAYS!

Belt of Truth

Represents the importance of living a life grounded in truth and honesty – the foundation for spiritual strength.

Breastplate of Righteousness

Symbolizes the protection of a righteous heart and conscience – guarding against accusations and doubts.

Shoes of the Gospel of Peace

Represents the readiness to spread the message of peace and reconciliation – essential for evangelism and discipleship.

Shield of Faith

Represents the ability to extinguish the fiery darts of the enemy by trusting in God’s promises and power.

Helmet of Salvation

Symbolizes the protection of the mind and thoughts – guarding against deception and doubt.

Sword of the Spirit

Represents the power of God’s word to defend against spiritual attacks and to encourage spiritual growth.
